The new playground in Staindrop off Stangarth Lane, behind Scarth Hall and the Scout Hut, opened on 4th September 2015 after fundraising by a local playground group meant that equipment could be provided for children below the age of seven.
The Parish Council has agreed to take on maintenance responsibility for new playground which is already being well used. Funding was provided from the Big Lottery and local County Councillors Richardson and Rowlandson via Teesdale Action Partnership, with smaller donations from GlaxoSmithKline and WHSmith. Thanks to everyone for their hard work in making the new playground a reality.
Work is currently underway with the local Playground Group attempting to raise funds for a Phase 2 development of the playground to provide play equipment for older children. So far, the group has received £3,000 from the Sir James Knott Trust and recently heard it had come first in the local Tesco carrier bag fund process and has been awarded £12,000. Well done to all involved.
