The General Data Protection Regulations 2018 come into force on 25th May 2018 and will govern how organisations (including Parish Councils) process personal data about individuals. You can see relevant documentation, including our General Privacy Notice, on the Council documents webpages.
Every year a Parish Assembly meeting has to be held in each Parish Council area. Electors in the Parish can come along and ask questions of the Parish Council. The next meeting of for local electors will be held on Thursday 15th March 2018 at 7.15 p.m. in the Joe Hodgson Room at Scarth Memorial Village Hall. All residents are welcome to attend.
The Environment Agency has recently announced that following a study to define the flood risk and options available to mitigate the risk of flooding in Staindrop, there is a reduction in number of properties at risk. After considering all the options, none can be found that is considered cost effective and the Agency is therefore closing the project.

Staindrop Parish Council adopted a revised Code of Conduct on 20th July 2017. You can view the new Code on the Council Documents page on our website.

Quotations are invited for the supply and planting of 3 No. trees on South Green, Staindrop.
Staindrop Parish Council intends to plant 3 No. trees on South Green in Staindrop, subject to the agreement of the landowner who is currently being consulted. The location and type of tree proposed is as follows:
- Office Square – 1 No. Rowan Tree
- Opposite Gorst Hall – 1 No. Alder Tree
- Near The Deanery – 1 No. Lime Tree or similar
The price submitted should include costs for the supply and planting of the trees and making good, together with any costs for weed control etc. The Council would also wish to include some limited planting of crocus and daffodils immediately adjacent to the trees as part of the planting. It is proposed that this be undertaken by local schoolchildren, so liaison will be required between the Parish Council and the successful contractor in relation to co-ordinating this aspect of the project. The precise location of the planting areas will be agreed following the selection of the successful contractor. Bidders should be appropriately qualified and have relevant insurance. The trees must be planted before February 2017 and invoices submitted before 27th January (which is the deadline for the Parish Council to claim the grant which is supporting this project).
The award of the contract will be dependent upon the agreement of the landowner to the works.

National Tree Week runs from 26th November to 4th December this year.
The Parish Council has applied for and been successful in obtaining a grant from Durham County Council to plant three new trees on the village green at Staindrop, subject to negotiation with the landowner.
We hope to bring you further news and to invite quotations for the works in due course.
We are delighted to announce that funds are now nearly in place to begin Phase 2 of the refurbishment of Staindrop Playground. Work will begin shortly to invite and assess quotations for the works, which are expected to be completed by the end of March 2017, and will provide play equipment for older children.

Work is underway to identify potential areas of flood risk in Staindrop. The Parish Council received a presentation from the Environment Agency at its November 2015 meeting.
Following a detailed hydraulic modelling study for Staindrop, the Environment Agency will be revising the Flood Map. This will show the most up to date representation of flood risk and the changes to the existing flood zones will come into effect following the next quarterly update in February 2016. The Agency is currently looking into the feasibility of a flood alleviation scheme to protect properties at risk in Staindrop.
